Key factors specifying hydraulic cylinders

Hydraulic cylinder needs specification to better understand which is well suited for specific application as they are available in number of shapes sizes and configuration. There are certain factors that specify them from each other.

Capacity

The normal heavy duty capacity of hydraulic cylinders is 1000 psi. While hydraulics used in heavy duty automotive machinery application can handles pressure up to 3000 psi. The variation in capacity of hydraulic specifies them for different application.

Cylinder body tubes

Chromed plated body tube in hydraulic cylinders is made up of alloy, steel or brass material which is common in special practice like in wet environment. Stop tubes used in horizontal mounted cylinders increases the distance between the rod and piston. Hydraulic cylinders contain different body tube for specific application.

Speed

Hydraulic cylinders handles speeds up to 3.28 ft. / sec but this is the standard speed. The speed of  different types of  hydraulics varies for different applications.

Temperature

Standard temperature for hot and cold temperatures is fixed in readings but as the application of these hydraulics vary the temperature for carrying out different applications also change. However the standard temperature for high temperature application is 500 F and for cold is 65 F.

These factors are mostly influence the specification and hydraulics cylinders supplier consider them most when specifying  hydraulic cylinders.
